What’s In a Name?
Millicent Maynahonah or Millie as most everyone grew to call her, was a fashion girl, she spent her days dreaming of the next outfit, Millie was known for styling all of her friends & being the jitterbug queen at Chilocco Indian School. Millie would grow up and marry the most handsome Kiowa man, Burgess Lee Tapedo & raise seven children together on the plains of Oklahoma, one of those children was my mother, Freda.
Growing up my grandmother embodied all things fashion, she even created her own ready-to-wear line called Apache Selections to showcase her work.
At Apache/Selections our vision is to continue uplifting Native American and Indigenous makers abroad, With the spirit of Millie woven into our business practices.
